“This feels like the soft landing the Fed was trying to produce. This is an easing of job growth, a stabilizing of wage growth, and an economy that is integrating most of the laid off workers from the brand name companies.” -- Andrew Crapuchettes, CEO of RedBalloon
(Moscow, Idaho) – Following on the heels of this week’s JOLTS report that showed January job openings had cooled to 10.8 million, the BLS February Employment Situation report found that the economy created 311,000 jobs in February, while wage increases cooled to just 0.2% (economists had predicted 0.3%). The percentage of short-term unemployed rose to 3.6% and the number of unemployed increased slightly to 5.9. million. Both of these numbers have hardly moved in over a year.

“This feels like the soft landing the Fed was trying to produce. This is an easing of job growth, a stabilizing of wage growth, and an economy that is integrating most of the laid off workers from the brand name companies,” said Andrew Crapuchettes, CEO of RedBalloon and pioneering innovator in labor market data and analytics.
